Time is precious to the busy 21st-century adult juggling multiple responsibilities while still trying to maintain a work-life balance. Even teenage students sometimes have packed schedules and several extracurricular activities. If you’ve always wanted to learn web and app development and couldn’t find the time to attend a course for weeks at a time, The Weekend Hack might be for you. Founded by Kadeem Best, a Trinbagonian programming lecturer, The Weekend Hack is a coding school and boot-camp where you can learn technology and software development, and “build the amazing” all in one weekend.
The school’s website was launched last Friday and announced the first workshop. The Accelerated Front End Web Development workshop will be held on August 24 and 25 at the College of Science, Technology and Applied Arts of Trinidad and Tobago (COSTAATT) City Campus in Trinidad and Tobago. In this course, attendees will learn front end web development topics, including HTML5 Basics, CSS3 Basics, and CSS3 animations and transitions. The cost of the course is $750 (TTD), and no prior programming experience is required to attend. By the end of the course, participants will be able to build a sleek, modern, simple, responsive design website and will receive a certificate of participation.
With The Weekend Hack, Kadeem hopes to hone students’ talents in STEM and create a space for students to discover their potential and gain relevant skills in technology and software development for the real world. His team of instructors is boasted on the school’s website as being highly competent with extensive experience and will provide one-one coaching to attendees of The Weekend Hack.
Kadeem currently lectures at three of the most prominent colleges in Toronto, including Toronto’s first community college. Using the workshops at the Weekend Hack, one of his ultimate goals is to change how people perceive programmers. Visit www.theweekendhack.com for more information about other courses and locations.
