In a world filled with intriguing tech products, there is always one particular device that blows your mind. Interestingly, traditional home décor is involving more and more technology to complement creativity and the arts. This floating flower pot is sure to grab any curious mind’s attention. It comes with a sleek, modern, geometric design that is perfect for any room.
The pot is powered by a type of technology known as Maglev, which gives it a floating appearance. This technology is found in trains in countries like Japan and South Korea.
Maglev is short for magnetic levitation. As described by the U.S. Department of Energy, it involves electromagnets referred to as superconducting magnets that are cooled to frigid temperatures to increase the power of the magnets.
The U.S. Energy Department credits the Brookhaven National Laboratory for first designing maglev trains noting that the first patent for the design was given to James Powell and Gordon Danby of Brookhaven in the 1960s. In maglev trains, the magnets suspend, and push and pull the trains forward.
According to the U.S. Energy Department, while stuck in a traffic jam, Powell thought that there had to be a better way to travel on land than using traditional trains or cars. Eventually, he came up with the idea of using superconducting magnets to levitate trains.
Today, maglev technology can be found in products like lamps and, of course, pots for plants and flowers. Although generally pricey, these fascinating products appear as elements of science fiction with their mesmerizing features adding a modern stylish look to their surroundings.
